Action on Poverty

The Action on Poverty project has now concluded and the project report is now available.

Please contact MVNS for more information on the Action on Poverty project.

This Interagency Project wass an action research project to identify structural issues promoting poverty in our local LGA and significant gaps in service delivery.  It was funded by the Department of Community Services through the Area Assistance Scheme for a period of 2 years.

It used an action research methodology, develop strategies to address gaps in service delivery and identify poverty traps, work in with other welfare agencies to promote seamless service delivery and reduce service duplication via a coordinated approach, build upon existing local interagency forums and networks to promote a self-supporting system, result in ideas and leadership on advocacy issues, identify common problems that can be owned and addressed by the community.

The Manning Valley Interagency acted as a steering committee to the project. Other service providers were considered key stakeholders in this project.

Community Services Toolkit

As part of the Action on Poverty project, we ran the CPR for Community Services day in May 2009. The aim of the day was to provide an opportunity for community services worker to network, share observations, learn new skills. Through information and co-operation we can increase supportive systems for clients and reduce poverty and social disadvantage. We have compiled a directory of community services providers and staff.
